Administrative Changes for the 2023-24 School Year

In January 2023, Oceanlake Elementary School Principal (and former Assistant Principal) Dr. Mary Pitcher delivered her resignation from the Lincoln County School District. In it she stated that she will be working through the school year until June 30, 2023. 

Dr. Pitcher was the Assistant Principal of Oceanlake for one year and a half until then principal Sandy Mummey became a district level administrator. She then was offered and accepted the position of principal in 2021 and has been the principal ever since (the last 2 and a half years). She is retiring in order to spend her time in her beloved Pacific City where she has plans to relax, collect interesting rocks and shells, travel with her husband and spend lots of time enjoying her family. She has been a tremendous asset to the school district and she will be greatly missed. 

The Superintendent, Dr. Karen Gray, and Elementary Director of Teaching and Learning, Dr. Katie Barrett, have offered the position of principal of Oceanlake to the current Assistant Principal of the last two years, Starla Nelson, a long time Lincoln City resident and teacher/administrator in LCSD. Mrs. Nelson has accepted the position and we could not be more delighted! Go Tigers! Mrs. Nelson has been at Oceanlake for the last 10 years and for one year was the teacher on special assignment assisting the principal at Taft Elementary School as well. She has earned 3 Masters Degrees and is well equipped to successfully lead Oceanlake into the future. 

This spring, Mrs. Nelson will select a new Assistant Principal through a district team process. We are excited to continue to move our school forward under capable and caring hands of Starla’s leadership while wishing Dr. Pitcher the VERY BEST OF LUCK on her new adventures.

Re: Escuela Primaria Oceanlake

Cambios Administrativos para el Año Escolar 2023-24

En enero de 2023, la Directora de la Escuela Primaria Oceanlake (y anterior Subdirectora) Dra. Mary Pitcher presentó su renuncia al Distrito Escolar del Condado de Lincoln. En ella ella declaró que ella trabajará durante el año escolar hasta el 30 de junio de 2023.

La Dra. Pitcher fue la Directora Asistente de Oceanlake por un año y medio hasta que la entonces directora Sandy Mummey se convirtió en administradora a nivel del distrito. Luego se le ofreció y aceptó el cargo de directora en 2021 y ha sido la directora desde entonces (los últimos 2 años y medio). Se jubila para pasar su tiempo en su querida Pacific City, donde tiene planes para relajarse, coleccionar rocas y conchas interesantes, viajar con su marido y pasar mucho tiempo disfrutando de su familia. Ha sido una gran ayuda para el distrito escolar y la echaremos mucho de menos.

La Superintendente, Dra. Karen Gray, y la Directora de Enseñanza y Aprendizaje de Primaria, Dra. Katie Barrett, han ofrecido el puesto de directora de Oceanlake a la actual Subdirectora de los últimos dos años, Starla Nelson, residente de Lincoln City desde hace mucho tiempo y maestra/administradora en LCSD. ¡La Sra. Nelson ha aceptado la posición y no podríamos estar más encantados! ¡Vamos Tigres! La Sra. Nelson ha estado en Oceanlake durante los últimos 10 años y durante un año fue la maestra en asignación especial asistiendo al director en Taft Elementary School también. Ella ha ganado 3 Maestrías y está bien equipada para dirigir con éxito Oceanlake en el futuro.

Esta primavera, la Sra. Nelson seleccionará un nuevo Subdirector a través de un proceso de equipo del distrito. Estamos muy contentos de seguir avanzando en nuestra escuela bajo las manos capaces y el cuidado de la dirección de Starla mientras le deseamos a la Dra. Pitcher la mejor de las suertes en sus nuevas aventuras.
